ABSTRACT

Flubendiamide, a highly used agricultural insecticide belongs to the class Rynoids, causes eye, skin and respiratory irritations. It also causes to some pathological changes and follicular cell hypertrophy within the thyroid glands of mature male rat. The main aim of this study is to determine some physiological and pathological changes of the thyroid gland with the use of recommended dose and or in higher doses sprayed by the farmers.39 male healthy albino rats weighing approximately 100 gm were taken for the present experiment. Flubendiamide was used in three separate doses. They were as follows i.e. 0.12 ml/100 ml water, 0.25 ml/100 ml water and 0.50 ml/100 ml water. After administration of the drug, they were placed into separate cages. At the termination of the experiment blood samples were taken, properly processed and measured the T3, T4 and TSH levels with the help of ELISA method. Data were recorded and analyzed statistically using Z-statistics. The results are highly significant (p< 0.01) when they are compared to the control value.
