ABSTRACT
Parapneumonic effusion (PPE) and Empyema have become a common complications encountered in the paediatric population. Pneumonia per say is the most common lower respiratory tract infection seen. The need for surgical intervention(decortication and intercostal tube drainage) has increased due to lack of proper medical care. A perspective study was undertaken enrolling the patients confirmed with pneumonia and empyema of infective cause and there surgical outcome was analysed in the department of Paediatric Surgery, M.M.I.M.S.R, Mullana, Ambala.
