Abstract

ROLE OF TARPANA WITH MAHATRIPHALA GHRITA IN GLAUCOMATOUS OPTIC ATROPHY: A CASE STUDY.

ABSTRACT

Glaucoma is a group of disease that damages the optic nerve. It remains a leading cause of blindness in adults over the age of 60 yrs., Inadequate supply of drugs , prohibitive cost of treatments, side effects of allopathic drugs Population rise, and resistance to drugs have led to increased emphasis on the use of herbal medicines for various ocular disorders. In this case study mahatriphaladi ghrita that is been indicated in most of the Ayurvedic texts for various kinds of ocular disorders is being tried in case of timira that can be taken as glaucomatous optic atrophy here. Patient found subjective relief from the diseases as well as improvement in visual acuity from FC- 1metre to 6/60 in RE and from 6/60 to 6/36 LE in duration of 2 months.
