Abstract

DOXORUBICIN ASSOCIATED ARRYTHMIAS AND ITS MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

The potency of doxorubicin is limited by its well known chronic cardiomyopathy effect as well as its propensity to cause cardiac arrhythmias with fatality acutely. Its liability to cause fatal cardiac arrhythmias is reviewed against the experience with six cases. We have found atenolol a beta blocker and antiarrythmic agent to be effective in aborting these tachyarrythmias in our practice.
