PREVALENCE OF HYPERTENSION AMONG KING ABDULAZIZ UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

ABSTRACT
Aim: To determine the prevalence of hypertension among the King Abdulaziz University (KAU) students. Methods: A descriptive university-based study conducted by examining subjects in the age group of 18 to 21 years of selected 41males student of KAU in Saudi Arabia. Data were obtained from history using a validated questionnaire, and examination including measurement of blood pressure. Results: The total number of subjects included in the study was 41. The prevalence of systolic hypertension was found in 14.6% of the students, diastolic hypertension was found in 29.3% of the students, combined systolic and diastolic was found in 9.8% of the students. Conclusion: Hypertension is prevalent among the King Abdulaziz University (KAU) students.
