STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE OF MUKHAKANTIKARA LEPA AND MUKHAKANTIKARA CREAM

ABSTRACT
Context: The quality of herbal drugs and products is highly variable and necessitates the need for quality control studies. Standardisation is relatively new concept in pharmaceutical manufacturing to ensure total quality management and assure products of best quality. Mukhakantikara cream is a modified form of Mukhakantikara Lepa which is mentioned by Acharya Shangadhara as one of the Varnya Lepa. Aim: to develop SOP for Mukhkantikara Lepa and Mukhakantikara Cream. Methods and Material: Mukhakantikara Lepa was prepared by the reference of Sharangdhara Samhita Uttarkhanda Khanda 11/9 and Mukhakntikara Cream was prepared by Anubhut method. The quality control parameters such as organoleptic characters, physico chemical characters like particle size for Mukhakantikara Lepa and sprediability and Vicosity for Mukhakantikara Cream were carried out by following standard guideline. Results: Total yield obtained was 98.5% and 92.3% for Mukhakantikara Lepa and Mukhakantikara cream Conclusions: The observed parameters can be considers as standard procedure to develop preliminary profile.
