LIMB SALVATION FROM PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASES INDUCED WAGNER GRADE (3-5) NON-HEALING DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS: CLINICAL SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF THE MERISISTM SUPERCELL PLUS PLATELET RICH FIBRIN MATRIX KIT

ABSTRACT
Objective: Complete wound closure in diabetic foot ulcers in Wagner grade (WG 3-5), cases is very slow or may lead to complication that lead to amputations. In this study, our objective was to validate the use of MERISISTM Supercell plus PRFM kit for the treatment of non-healing WG 3-5 diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) and rescue them from limb amputation. MERISISTM Supercell plus PRFM is an autologous biological matrix of (ECM) proteins, mononuclear cells, Stem cells and leukorich-Platlet rich Plasma (L-PRP) derived growth factors from peripheral blood. Method: The MERISISTM PRFM kit is sterile enclosed and easy to use, point of care (PoC), single step gel separation technology-based kit for treatment of chronic wounds. Patients with vascular diseases suffering from WG (3-5) large wounds, that did not respond to conventional treatments, for over 6 weeks, were enrolled in this study. The treatment procedure was done every 15 days for 3-4 times. Each procedure consisted of preparing the wound beds and covering it up with the PRFM gel and injecting the supercell, L-PRP mix around the wound area with insulin needles. Result: The enrolled DFU patients showed rapid wound healing within 60 days of treatment using the MERISISTM Supercell plus PRFM. On an average every patient needed three treatments for achieving complete wound closure. Conclusion: We conclude that MERISISTM Supercell plus PRFM is an effective and safe modality to increase the wound recovery in patients suffering from non-healing diabetic foot ulcers.
