Abstract

AYURVEDA VIEW ON KARNAROGA W.S.R. TO THE ROLE OF PARIBHADRA PLANT IN EAR ACHE

ABSTRACT

Shravanendriya's seat is Karna, which is made up primarily of Akash mahabhuta and is important for taking speech sensation. Ayurveda described many Karnaroga and Karnashula (otalgia) is one of them which is characterized by severe ear ache. Ayurveda mentioned several approaches for treating Karnashool and uses of Paribhadra plant is one such approach to treat ear pain. Paribhadra offers therapeutic benefits in Karnasula. Acute otalgia can be controlled with ayurvedic medications and its recurrence can be decreased. Paribhadra helps to cure acute symptoms of Karnasula. Kaphavatahara, Krimighna and Shoolahara properties of Paribhadra plant contributed towards its Karnashoolahara effect. Taking into consideration these all aspect present article summarizes Ayurveda view on ear problems, their management and role of Paribhadra plant in ear ache.
